What does air powder polishing remove?
What Does the Air Powder Polishing Remove? Air powder polishing has the ability to remove the tough stains caused by red wine, coffee, tea and tobacco. Furthermore, air polisher dental hygiene systems may also remove dental plaque and surface stains by applying high pressurized airflow to them.
Compared to a polishing cup, air polishers are more effective in removing stains. Using air polishers prior to scaling reduces plaque and stains that may interfere with visibility during scaling, especially if biofilm levels are high.
Sodium bicarbonate-based AIR-N-GO® classic powders remove colored stains and bacterial plaque, even in areas that are difficult to access. This complete range of active supra-gingival powders, available in 5 flavors.
An Air Polish is a simple hygiene treatment that effectively removes stains on the teeth and discolouration while thoroughly removing dental plaque. This innovative technique removes plaque and staining, often caused by drinking red wine, tea/coffee and smoking, to restore a natural smile.
Airflow teeth polishing has several advantages and benefits for those looking for an effective teeth cleaning treatment. It can help in preventing gum disease. Airflow polish can be used on crowns, veneers, bridges, and implants.
Although air polishing is not a tooth whitening therapy, it can significantly improve tooth brightness and give you a noticeably sparkling fresh, healthy mouth in an instant. Some people have naturally darker teeth, which cannot be improved with cleaning or polishing.
If your cleaning included a fluoride treatment or air polishing, you need to wait 30 minutes to eat. If you didn't have a fluoride treatment or air polishing, there's no need to wait. We do recommend avoiding foods that could stain or discolor your teeth for at least 6 hours after a cleaning.
This problem is now obliterated with the introduction of AirFlow oral hygiene as there is no vibration or heat production with this technology. Observational studies have shown that air polishing is three times faster at tartar and debris removal than regular dental practices.
Before polishing your teeth, the hygienist scoops up some prophy paste onto the rubber cup. Prophy paste is like an extra-gritty version of toothpaste, which often comes in similar flavors. The hygienist then applies the prophy paste to your teeth, and the spinning of the cup polishes your teeth and removes stains.
The most common air polishing abrasive particle is specially processed sodium bicarbonate (SPSB). The SPSB is food grade tribasic and is combined with scant amounts of calcium phosphate and silica to keep it free flowing. The SPSB particles average 74 µm in size. The Mohs hardness number for sodium bicarbonate is 2.5.
What is removed during polishing?
The removal of oxidization (tarnish) from metal objects is accomplished using a metal polish or tarnish remover; this is also called polishing. To prevent further unwanted oxidization, polished metal surfaces may be coated with wax, oil, or lacquer.
How long does AirFlow® last? The effects of stain removal could last up to 12 months. This time is reduced if you consume food and drinks that cause staining, if you use a chlorhexidine mouthwash or if you are a smoker.
Mechanical polishing offers numerous benefits, providing products with an improved surface finish, reduced product adhesion, better surface cleanability, and higher aesthetic appeal.
Is it better than a standard scale and polish? Airflow and traditional scaling and polishing each have their strengths. Airflow is excellent for removing stains, plaque, and early-stage tartar, especially in hard-to-reach areas. A scale and polish might be needed for tougher, more established tartar.
Airflow cleaning is a great way to brighten your smile simply and effectively. It will remove surface staining but will not lighten the base colour of the teeth. Stains that are removable include tea, coffee, wine, curry, chlorhexidine and tobacco.
Can Airflow remove stains? Yes. Airflow can remove stains from up to 5mm deep into the periodontal pockets as well as the surface of the tooth.
Veneers: If you see celebrities with perfectly white, straight, and uniform-looking teeth, they likely have veneers. Unlike teeth whitening, veneers are more permanent. There are various types of materials used, but porcelain and composite are the most common types.
With a super-high concentration hydrogen peroxide, a professional bleaching treatment is undoubtedly going to yield the most effective whitening results. "If you get a good result from over-the-counter products then you should get even better results from in-office, professional whitening," points out Dr. Lowenberg.
The 'AirFlow' Treatment is used for;
AirFlow uses air, sodium bicarbonate or glycine powder and a gentle jet stream of water to remove surface stains caused by tobacco, food and drink.
You can eat or drink as usual after an airflow tooth polishing treatment. We recommend you refrain from smoking and avoid foods and drinks known to stain the teeth like tea, coffee, and red wine as much as you can, purely to maintain the cosmetic results of the treatment.
Do gums reattach after deep cleaning?
Although deep cleaning will not help your gums grow back, it allows them to heal and look healthy again. After deep cleaning, your gums start reattaching to the teeth. This process might take some time, but it gets complete eventually. Usually, the process should be complete within 4 to 6 weeks.
Unlike conventional teeth polishing techniques, Air Polishing does not harm the tooth enamel while cleaning stains from the teeth. It is a gentle technique and can be used on dental implants without any risk of damage. As it is painless and also does not create any heat, the process is 100% safe.
AIRFLOW® – Regulated warm water, compressed air and very fine powder particles (erythritol) are used to effectively and gently remove the now visible biofilm from the teeth.
The Airflow Polish uses air flow stain removal technology. It is soft and gentle at removing all stains effectively with quick results. It's is a like a jet wash for teeth that have been stained by smoking, tea, coffee and other food and drinks.
Using hydrogen peroxide in caring for teeth and gums eliminates harmful bacteria. This cuts down the formation of plaque and tartar. This powerful antiseptic can deteriorate the bacteria in plaque. Some dentists use hydrogen peroxide as a more efficient way to remove the plaque and tartar from teeth.
