Haier - Portable Air Conditioner Tank Needs Emptying Too Often (2024)

Part of the cooling process is removing humidity from the room. When first installed or after the unit has not been used inawhile, it is normal for thetank to fill up quickly and require more frequent emptying. Even once an hour can be normal.

Initially, you are not only dehumidifying the moisture in the air but what is in floor, walls, ceiling, plus the materials in the room. , Once the humidity in the air decreases to a certain level, the moisture in the floor, walls, ceiling, and materials in the room will start to release their moisture into the air and dry out. Once all of thisis finished, there will be a reduction of thethe number of times it will need to be emptied. In fact, when used continuously, the unit continuously evaporates the water in the tank.

Consider closing doors and windows in the space you are using the unit to reduce the square footage that is to be cooled.

To empty the tank:

  1. Unplug the air conditioner.
  2. Place a shallow pan below the lower drain on the back of the unit.
  3. Remove the drain plug and drain the water completely.
  4. Re-insert the drain plug.
  5. Plug the air conditioner back in.
